Distribution.
Native from tropical and subtropical regions of East Asia, the species currently has a limited distribution and with patchy reported native range, but is likely to have a wide native range. The species has been introduced to the Mascarene Islands in the Indian Ocean.
Biology & Ecology.
The species is known to nest within leaf litter. Native to Hong Kong, this is a common species and can be found in both forest and open habitats. Like other species from the genus, workers are likely general hunters and scavengers, and forage above the ground.
Identification.
The species can be recognized by its size (4.2–4.4 mm).
