Distribution.
One of the most widespread species in the genus. Native from the subtropical regions of East Asia, this species has been introduced worldwide.
Biology & Ecology.
This species is introduced to Hong Kong, and can be found in open habitats and urban environment. While it is now present in many places as an exotic ant, it has not been reported as a pest nor an invasive species in introduced regions.
This species has both alate (winged) and ergatoid (wingless) male.
Identification.
The species can be recognized by the absence of groove on the dorsum of mesosoma.
