Distribution.
Native from the tropical and subtropical regions of East Asia, this species has a widespread distribution.
Biology & Ecology.
This arboreal species is common in Hong Kong, and can be found in forests. Workers are likely generalists, and like other species from the genus, may tend Hemiptera for their honeydew. The ecology of this species remains, for its most part, unknown.
Identification.
The species can be recognized by its dark coloration, by having erect hairs on the head, antennal scapes and body, and smooth and shining side of mesosoma (especially mesopleuron).
