Distribution.
Native from the subtropical regions of East Asia, this species has a moderate distribution.
Biology & Ecology.
In Hong Kong, this arboreal species is rarely recorded and can be found in forests. Workers are likely generalists, and like other species from the genus, may tend Hemiptera for their honeydew. The ecology of this species remains, for its most part, unknown.
Identification.
The species can be recognized by its dark coloration, and by having appressed hairs on the head, antennal scapes and body.
