Native from the subtropical regions of East Asia, this species has a limited distribution.
Biology & Ecology.
The species is known to nest within the soil. This species is uncommon in Hong Kong, and can be found in both forest and open habitats. The ecology of this species remains, for its most part, unknown.
Identification.
The species can be recognized by, for minor workers, the anterior portion of their side of mesosoma (side of promesonotal dome) mostly smooth and shining.
