Distribution.
One of the most widespread species in the genus. Native from the subtropical to tropical regions of East Asia, this species has a moderate distribution.
Biology & Ecology.
In Hong Kong, this is a common species and can be found in forest. Workers are general hunters of arthropods and other invertebrates. They are found foraging within leaf litter.
Little is known of its biology, except that this species has queen caste and likely has gamergates as well.
Identification.
The species can be recognized by its size (14.8–15.1 mm). This is the largest ant species currently known in Hong Kong.
