Distribution.
One of the most widespread species in the genus. Native from Australia, this species has been introduced worldwide as a tramp species.
Biology & Ecology.
The species is known to nest within leaf litter. In Hong Kong, this species is an introduced species and, as in other introduced regions, is common in disturbed environment. This species is not known to have significantly impact native communities in introduced regions.
Identification.
The species can be recognized by its 4-segmented antennae, short and narrow mandibles, and by having orbicular hairs on its head and mesosoma.
