Distribution.
One of the most widespread species in the genus. Native from the tropical to temperate regions of East Asia, this species has been introduced worldwide as a tramp species.
Biology & Ecology.
The species is known to nest within the soil, decaying wood and on plants. The ecology of this species remains, for its most part, unknown, including its diet. The species has not been reported as an invasive or pest species in its introduced regions.
Identification.
The species can be recognized by its size (1.6–1.7 mm), reduced eyes and the side of mesosoma with sculptures.
