Biology & Ecology.
The species is known to nest under stones and within decaying wood, and forage above the ground. In Hong Kong, this species can be found in both forest and urban habitats. Like other species from the genus, workers are likely general scavengers and/or hunters of other insects.
This species itself has only occasionally been reported to be a pest itself, usually on small islands.

The species can be recognized by its color: dark brown gaster in contrast with brown head and body, convex mesosoma, the presence of dense hairs and by having shining surface in-between the sculpture.
